I am Yang Zaihong, one of the CRC education sponsorship recipients from Anlong No. 1 Middle School in Guizhou province. My school is located 53 km away from my village. I usually go to school by bus. Fare per ride is 11 Yuan. Commuting to school is rather expensive. Thus I don’t go home often unless there is a holiday. We have school break which is last for two days every month. We always cherish the time we spent with our family. When I am home, I will help out around the house by doing household chores.

I grew up in a family of seven. Both my parents are farmer. We financially dependent on our parents. Seven of us live together in a 120 m² cottage located around the village.
At school, each student is required to pay 3300 Yuan yearly to cover tuition fees and boarding & lodging fees. Besides that, we still need to purchase books and stationery. For we who come from a poor family, these expenses aren’t small amount even though we have lived frugally.
The final-year-student is in need of study six subjects every day. I have to admit that I am not excel at every courses. Some lessons just couldn’t have me intrigued. My favourite subject is Chemistry. Nevertheless I scored better in Chinese and English. My friends think that learning English is tough, but not me. It is important for us to memorize as many words as possible if we want to master a language. Reciting words help built my English vocabulary. On the other hand, I find Physics, Mathematics and Biology are rather difficult. I am not giving up no matter what because college entrance exam, known as the Gao Kao is just around the corner. I just have to study harder.
After high school graduation, I choose to go to college. I love sports and thus, I will like to pursue a degree in physical education at Harbin Sport University. My backup options will be Wuhan Institute of Physical Education, Central China Normal University, etc. In the future, I would like to seek a career in sports management. This is my dream and I will strive to achieve my goal.
After college entrance examinations, we will be able to enjoy nearly three months of summer break. During this period, I will get myself a summer job, for instance, supermarket cashier or courier. The extra income can help cover some of my educational expenses.
Over the past two years, I have received a total of 11000 Yuan of financial aid from Community Roots China. I am very grateful for your support. Because of you, I’m able to overcome problems I encountered in my study life. Moreover, my parents’ burden has been lightened significantly. I spent this money with proper planning, for example, on school supplies, reference books and my sister’s tuition fees. You are my role model. In the future, I want to be like you, passing down the loving support to those in need. Thank you once again for showing me the essence of giving.
